TRAVEL TIPS FOR YOUR UPCOMING COSTA RICA FITNESS RETREAT

Flight Preparations

You need to arrive in Costa Rica, at Liberia International Airport, Airport Code: LIR. We'll be there to pick you up on the first day of the retreat, with a welcoming smile, so you won't need to worry about anything when you land. You can press the easy button as soon as you meet up with our trip guides and they'll get you to the private villa in a quick 20 minutes. If you choose to arrive any day before the start of the retreat, you'll need to organize that on your own since we don't know your travel plans. We have a 2pm check-inonthe first date of your trip. And you’ll check out of the villa on at noon on the last date of your trip, so we will organize your dreadful journey back to the airport to catch your flight home or wherever you're going to next. If you're planning to stay longer, how could we blame you? We will do out very best to help get you set up so when/if you do leave, you'll have everything you need. The easiest way to arrange flights would be to tell a travel agent these dates and get them to help you. Otherwise, we recommend using SkyScanner or Kayak to find good, cheap flights. If you haven't booked flights yet, now's the time, as Hopper believes the prices will only go up within a month of the trip start date.Once you’ve booked your flights, please email the details of your flight to info@wanderfitretreats.com. We’ll pass this information on to who will be picking you up so that we're ready at the airport to pick you up when you come through the arrivals hall.Speaking of our drivers, one of our amazing trip guides will be excitedly waiting holding a sign that says “WANDERFIT Retreats,” and will take you and your bags direct from the airport to the villa. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy.

Visas on Arrival

Costa Rica allows travelers from various countries free entry without the need of a visa. Your country most likely will be included within these, but please double check here for a quick and easy check. Please let us know if your country isn't on the list. Also, it is important to ensure your passport is not within 6 months of the listed expiration date. If your passport life has 6 months or less, you’ll need to renew it prior to flying. That can take time, so we urge you not to put it off until the last minute.

Travel Insurance

WANDERFIT maintains full liability coverage for accidents and incidentals, but this won't cover issues with your independent travel arrangements such as flight cancellations and other unpredictable occurrences. If you wish to purchase travel insurance, Pacific Prime Health and Travel Insurance may be one option for you. Companies such as Pacific Prime offer various protection plans designed for travelers to cover their risk of accidents, medical emergencies and other disruptions while traveling abroad. For more information, visit their website.

Vaccinations

As with any international travel it's always best to consult your local physician or medical professional before taking off. According to the Passport Health Global - Costa Rica website, there are vacations that are recommended, but not required. Please consult with your health care professional regarding your personal needs. That being said, we'd like to emphasize that you will be staying in a superbly fitted-out villa with conditions consistent with high western standards, so this is just a foreign travel precaution just for playing it safe.

Packing and In-Flight Recommendations

From our experience, here’s a few things we recommend bringing that may have slipped your mind or we’ve learned along the way:

  • Snacks (duh!)
  • Eye mask/neck pillow for long flight
  • Sunscreen & mosquito repellant (they're very expensive in Costa Rica!)
  • A writing pen in your carry-on
  • Drink lots of water to minimize jet lag
  • Most long-haul flights will provide this, but just in case:
  • Extra socks to keep your little feeties warm on chilly flights
  • Travel pillow
  • Blanket
  • Tooth brush and paste
  • Face wipes
  • If you’re taller than the average bear, we recommend asking for emergency exit seats when you check in for your flight
  • If you get woozy, bring some Dramamine. Remember, we’re going on a catamaran, so this could be helpful if you are prone to seasickness or motion sickness in a car.
  • If you have a sensitive stomach, having some Imodium handy will help make your tummy feel better
  • If you’ve been told you’re a “sweater” (not the kind you wear), bring an extra pair of workout shoes. In case they may not dry out as quickly as you're used to
  • One (1) pair of pants and one (1) jacket/hoodie, if you tend to get chilly in the evening. Although Costa Rica can be quite warm as they approach the end of dry season, it's a tropical climate so it can be chilly year round in the mornings and evenings.
  • One (1) rain or waterproof jacket you can wear in case it rains (it can still be wet even in dry season).
  • If you want to get fancy for dinner on the town, a short sleeved, collared shirt with shorts and sneakers is suggested for guys, and ladies we don't think you need guidance on how to look good, just bring it!
  • An international outlet adapter, if you're traveling outside the US.
  • Sunglasses & hat, to protect you from the sun and to make you look so stylish
  • Multiple swimsuits, tank tops/tees, and athletic shorts/gym-wear/active wear
  • One (1) outfit that you don't care if it gets very dirty for when we are ATVing and hiking to Rio Celeste Waterfall. These days will be full of laughs, adrenaline and (some) mud :)

All of these things you can get once you're in Coco Beach if need be, but why waste valuable travel time?

Balance of Payments

If you've only paid the deposit so far, please ensure you settle the balance of the retreat as soon as possible. You can check the email you received upon paying the deposit for information on how to do so.If you can't find your invoice email, then let us know and we'll shoot across another link to settle up. All balances are due 60 days before the trip start date.
